FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Bassist Says 'Sham Pain' Video Was 'Fun' To Make

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH recently filmed a video for the new song "Sham Pain", off the band's long-awaited seventh studio album, "And Justice For None". The track is the second of three brand new pre-order songs and follows the release of "Fake", which was made available earlier in the month. Fans can expect one more additional song to be revealed on May 4, two weeks before the entire LP arrives on May 18.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH bassist Chris Kael told KLAQ's Lisa Sanchez about the "Sham Pain" clip (see video below): "It was actually fun on this one. We all went down to the desert and just had some fun with it. It's kind of along the lines of the 'Jekyll And Hyde' video. We tend to do one very serious video and then follow it up with something a little more lighthearted and then back to a serious one. If you noticed, we're really not in the serious ones, for the most part. We try to allow the video to tell the story without the members of the band being a distraction from the story."

The release of "And Justice For None" was delayed for the better part of a year by a legal battle between FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and its label, Prospect Park. Kael told KLAQ: "We had most of [the album] done, and it was submitted to the label, I wanna say, December of [2016]. And then we had to do the whole legal thing and put out the 'greatest-hits' [collection called 'A Decade Of Destruction'] and ended up using a couple of songs from the new record on the greatest-hits record, added those as a couple of bonus tracks, and then had a chance to go back in and do a couple of new songs as well. One of those songs is 'Fake', which is one of my favorite ones. That was one of the first ones I heard after Ivan [Moody, vocals] had gotten out of rehab, and I was, like, 'Oh, man. I hope he's got it still. I hope he's got it.' They played that for me, and I immediately sent him a text. I was, like, 'Good to have you back, man.' He's probably more pissed than he was when he was doing whatever the hell he was doing. Sobriety will do that to you. Trust me — I know."

Moody's substance abuse issues caused him to miss a couple of the band's tours, with the singer later apologizing to fans and revealing that he had been in a treatment facility "addressing the addiction issues that have interfered with everything in my life."

In May 2016, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH announced it had signed a new North American recording deal with the BMG-owned rock label Rise Records.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will hit a handful of festivals and play around a dozen dates with SHINEDOWN this spring. The band will then kick off a co-headlining run with BREAKING BENJAMIN on July 16 in Seattle.
